Westmead is a suburb in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the local government area of the Cumberland Council and part of the Greater Western Sydney Region. Westmead is bounded by the Finlayson Creek on the West, Toongabbie Creek to the North, Parramatta Park on the East and the Great Western Highway to the South. Hawkesbuty Road and the North Shore, Northern & Western Line of the Sydney Trains network cut through the suburb.
The suburb holds most notably the University of Western Sydney, the UWS College (Westmead Campus) as well as a large number of healthcare providers including the Westmead Hospital, The Cumberland Hospital, the Children’s Medical Research Institute, the Westmead Medical Research Foundation and the Westmead Millennium Institute for Medical Research.
