Brookvale is a suburb part of the Northern Beaches region in New South Wales as well as the Warringah Council. In 1836, William Frederick Parker was granted land here to farm and subsequently sold the land to oher families in turn. ‘Brookvale House’ was built in 1883 by Sydney Alexander Malcolm which lends its name to the suburb. It was since bought over in 1961 by the Hooker Investment Corporation who tore it down to build the a huge shopping complex – Warringah Mall.
The Brookvale Oval was built after the land was given to the residents here in 1911 by Jane Try of Brookvale House and the stadium was subsequently built. It is used frequently for Rugby and other sports but most notable is the home ground for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles National Rugby League team. The Manly Leagues Club is located nearby the stadium. For the most recent National Rugby Championship season, the North Harbour Rays claim the Brookvale Oval as their home ground.
