Merewether is a coastal suburb in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It is bordered by Merewether Beach off the South Pacific Ocean, Glebe Road, and portions of the Pacific Highway. There is a large area of green land here as the Glenrock State Conservation Area is located within the suburb with the Glenrock Lagoon just lying on the southern-most tip of the suburb area. The Murdering Gully runs through the reserve all the way to the sea. There are other parks here, including the Myamblah Crescent Reserve as well as the Dixon Park.
Notable landmarks here include the Lingard Private Hospital, St Augustine’s Anglican Church, and the Merewether Public School. The South newcastle Rugby League Club, Airsports-Newcastle Paragliding spot, Merewether Bowling Club, Merewether and Dixon Park Surfe Life Saving Clubs are also found here.
