The Municipality of Woollahra was formed in the 1960 when the petition to form was not contested. The local residents from Darling Point, Paddington and Watsons Bay had gathered 144 signatures and they had successfully put the municipality into formation. Councillor Andrew Petrie is the current Mayor and iwth him are 14 other councillors in office who serve in 5 wards namely – Bellevue Hill Ward, Cooper Ward, Double Bay Ward, Paddington Ward, and Vaucluse Ward. They have been governing at their current site at Redleaf since 1947 after moving from the ‘Iron House’ on Ocean Street.
