Roselands is located in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, 16 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district and belongs to state of New South Wales.

British settlement is dated to 1788 and at the time the inhabitants were Aborigines of the Darug language group and they called themselves Kuri or Koori. Land grants by the British colonial government began in around 1810 and the area became a suburb on 9 February 1987. The suburb’s name derives from the plant nursery that originally situated in the area.

In October 1965 Roselands Shopping Centre became the third fully enclosed shopping precinct in Australia and was for many years the largest shopping centre in the Southern hemisphere. By todays standard it’s not considered that big and even though many improvements has been performed during the years it remains smaller than other Sydney shopping centres.

Several sport and recreation centres are located in the vicinity of Roselands Shopping Centre such as the Roselands Aquatic Centre, The Lantern Club and Roselands soccer club which is located at Bennett Park and currently is the home ground for ‘Roseland Raptors SFC’.
