Revesby is located in the state of New South Wales, about 22 kilometres south-west of the Sydney CDB. The area is a suburb of local government area City of Canterbury-Bankstown and further a part of the South-western Sydney region.

In 1913 the suburb officially received its name in honor of Sir Joseph Banks, the botanist who sailed with Captain James Cook on HM Bark Endeavour (a British Royal Navy research vessel).

Today mostly a residential suburb, the area was developed as part of Sydney’s post-war urban sprawl.

Adjacent to Revesby railway station (opened on 21 December 1931) on Marco Avenue and Selems Parade is a developing retail shopping centre. Revesby Abbey is a very popular spot for people to mingle as it features many food venues and boutiques.
