Located 22 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, Padstow, a suburb in the state of New South Wales, Australia, and a part of the South-western Sydney region. The suburb named after the town of Padstow in Cornwall, England was first named Padstow Park Estate but was in 1939 changed to Padstow. The railway station arrived in 1931, which encouraged development in the area and the area once more thrived after the end of the Second World War.

Padstow shopping centre is located around railway station where most of the shops are located on the southern and northern side.
The suburb has several centres that cater for religious needs, five schools of which one is a Catholic school, all K-6.

The suburb is also home of many sport clubs including; Padstow United and Padstow Hornets which is two junior soccer clubs with home grounds at Playford Park and respectively Stuart Street Reserve. There are also several junior Rugby clubs as well as the Doug Frost Swim School, where Ian Thorpe first began swimming.
