Greenacre is located 17 kilometres south-west of the Sydney CBD in the state of New South Wales a suburb of local government areas City of Canterbury-Bankstown and the Municipality of Strathfield.

The area was once called East Bankstown, it first became referred to as the ‘Green Acre’ due to the first road leading through the area. When the road was being built an acre of land was cleared for cultivation and due to the stark contrast to its surrounding area the name was coined.
