Chester Hill is located in the state of New South Wales, 25 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and part of the Greater Western Sydney region.

After the Regents Park railway line arrived in 1924 this part north-west of Bankstown developed into a residential and light industrial area. Initially known as Boroya, a native aboriginal word which is unknown, it changed name when the station opened and officially came to be ‘Chester Hill’.

The main shopping centre in the area is Chester Hill, located behind the main road of Waldron Road. Other notable facilities are Chester Hill branch of the Bankstown City Library and the community centre with gardens and workshops.

Chester Hill facilities five schools including Salamah College which is a sister school of Al Amanah College. There are several places of worship and recreational parks with amenities. Campbell Hill Reserve, Everley Park, Nugent Parkare are a few. Abbott Park is home ground to Chester Hill Hornets Junior Rugby league Club and the Chester Hill Youth Cricket Club.
