Belmont is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia and part of the local government area the City of Belmont. The land was previously known as Belmont Park until 1968 when it was shortened. The suburb receives its name from Captain Francis Henry Byrne’s estate in England, or so it is believed.
The suburb is on the East of the Great Eastern Highway and the Swan River and has very few green spaces within. Its use is mostly commercial and industrial. There are 2 public schools in the suburb – Belmont Primary School, and Belmont City College (formerly known as the Belmont Senior High School) and a couple of parks – Centenary Park and Signal Hill Bushland, as well as half of Faulkner Park. The Belgravia Residential Estate and the Lone Rangers Shooting Complex are located here too.
