Eastern Melbourne compromises all of the suburbs East of the Melbourne Central Business District Area. A large number of municipalities fall under this category such as the City of Yarra,, City of Stonnington, City of Glen Eira, City of Boroondara, City of Monash, City of Manningham, City of Greater Dandenong, City of Maroondah, City of Knox, Shire of Yarra Ranges, City of Casey, Shire of Nillumbik and the Shire of Cardinia.
This area of Melbourne is known for the way that its streets are laid out using The Hoddle Grid (named after the man who designed the grid – Robert Hoddle). The grid spans past the Eastern Suburbs and into the rest of Melbourne.
Long gone are the days when storing your furniture and other household items meant your possessions being loaded into a truck, driven to the storage warehouse facility and unloaded again into the storage unit. The words ’inefficient’ and ‘time-wasting’ spring to mind as this old system involved hours of loading and unloading, travelling time included, and wasted man-power.
These days the systems are a lot more sophisticated as the storage unit is transported to your specific location on the back of a truck. There it is loaded with your things before being driven back to the warehouse, whereby the whole unit is removed from the truck by a fork-lift and placed into its allocated position where it will remain until you request its return.
You’d be surprised however how many storage services still use the old-fashioned system. Here at Supercheap we were amongst the first to change and update these out-of-date and laborious methods and have perfected our system over the years to the fine-tuned model it is today.
