The Gold Coast State is just south of Brisbane and part of the Greater Brisbane area of Australia.
The Gold Coast area settlement boomed after the Surfers Paradise Hotel was constructed in the 1920s. It used to be called the South Coast until prices of real estate and goods started getting inflated in the 1950s and by the 1980s when the tourism started dominating the economy here.
There is lots of activity here such as its beaches – Main Beach, Surfers’ Paradise, Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach, and Palm beach all the way up to Colangatta and Tweedheads, and its islands – the Short, Crusoe, Eden, Kangaroo, South Stradbroke islands. There are also a number of theme parks located here – Dreamworld, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild Water World, Warner Bros. Movie World, WhiteWater World, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, David Fleay Wildlife Park, Australian Outback Spectacular and Paradise Country, and golf courses too.
Gold Coast will also be hosting the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
