Coorparoo (or previously known as Four Mile Camp) is a suburb of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. It’s name is an derivation of the Norman Creek which forms the northwest border of the suburb. The aboriginals of the Coorparoo clan who lived in the area called the creek Koolpuroom.
There are quite a number of notable buildings and heritage listed sites here dating from 1880. These include the Spanish Mission Revival homes, Coorparoo Shire Hall, a Restored Tram Post, Coorparoo Substation No. 210, the Coorparoo School of Arts and RSL Memorial Hall, the former Coorparoo Fire Station and the Queen Alexandra Home.
Parks in the area include Giffin Park, Moorhen Flats, Wembley Park, Majestic Park, Cavendish Hill Reserve and Eric Sivell Park. Schools here invlude the Coorparoo Primary School, Villanova College and treh Brisbane School of Distance Education.
