Chermside is an iconic suburb in the North East of Brisbane for being a hub along Queensland Transport’s upcoming Northern Busway. The suburb was originally named Downfall Creek but it was changed to honour the then Governor of Queensland, Major-General Sir Herbert Chermside Chermside in 1903.
One of Queensland’s largest shopping centres – Westfield Chermside, is located here and besides which there are other numerable facilities in Chermside too including two large parks – the 7th Brigade Park, and the Marchant Park. The Chermside Library has been established snince 1909 and sits next to a number other notable clubs and attractions like the Kedron Wavell RSL and some other sports facilities, including the Chermside Aquatice Centre water park. There are also 2 hospitals in the area – the Prince Charles (public) Hospital and the Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital.
