Strathpine is part of the Moreton Bay Region in North Brisbane. The Pine Rivers district offices are located in this suburb that has its name in Scottish roots. The “Pine” portion of its name refers to the Pine River; Strathpine’s eastern border follows the meanders of the South Pine River until it meets up with the North tributary of it. The majority of its borders follow the parkland in the area including the Pine Rivers Park in the South. Westfield Strathpine and the Pine Rivers Private Hospital are located nearby. The Wendy Allison Park in the North West and the Robert G Akers Sporting Reserve are at the top of the suburb and follow the Four Mile Creek.
Strathpine was developed in 1860s as an additional settlement area during the Gympie gold rush and was first named Strathpine by the Queensland Government Railways. It then became the administrative centre for the Pine Rivers Shire Council up until 2008.
